Today is my husband Gerry’s birthday. I love my husband and I love celebrating him!! What can I say; Gerry is a gift from God to me!! Happy Birthday sweetheart and thank you for being all that I could ever ask or hope for in a husband!!
This week’s blog is dedicated to celebrating birthdays. We all have one and God chose the day you were born. So go ahead and celebrate the life that God gave you and praise Him for it! And if you know someone behind bars, don’t forget their birthday. Send them a card and wish them a Happy Birthday. It will mean a lot. Trust me, I know as someone formerly behind bars.
There are many reasons to celebrate the day you were born. Here are Ten Reasons to Wish someone a Happy Birthday:
1. Because You Care
Keep track of the birthdays of your loved ones and be ready to celebrate with them each year to show how much they matter to you.
2. To Get Back In Touch
As you go through life and move from place to place, you may end up losing touch with people who were once very close to you, such as old school friends or neighbors. Wishing them a happy birthday is a perfect excuse to get back in touch and potentially rekindle the old bond between you.
3. To Make Someone Smile
Sometimes when a person is going through hard times, knowing that you care about them enough to remember their birthday is enough to cheer them up and make him smile.
4. Because It’s Polite
Even if you don’t the person particularly well, it is polite and socially acceptable to wish them a happy birthday anyway. This is the case with anybody you may know in a professional setting, such as your colleagues and your boss, as well as any casual acquaintances.
5. To Mend Fences
If you had an argument with a friend, wishing them a happy birthday might rekindle the friendship and get rid of any bad blood between the two of you.
6. To Make a Good Impression
When you are trying to get closer to someone you don’t yet know very well, finding out when they were born and wishing them a happy birthday might help you make a good impression.
7. To Celebrate Life
Human life is fleeting and finite; each birthday you celebrate with your loved ones is a celebration of the time you have been able to spend together and a wish for more happy days in the future.
8. To Enjoy Togetherness
Birthdays are frequently a community affair, bringing together close and distant friends and relatives in a celebration of a loved one’s birthday. By wishing somebody happy birthday, you are joining in this celebration and participating in the community.
9. To Return the Favor
Do your best to keep track of the birthdays of anybody who has wished you a happy birthday in the past and return the favor when their birthdays come.
10. Because It Doesn’t Cost You Anything
Ultimately, wishing somebody a happy birthday costs you nothing except a small fraction of your time. If you are unsure whether or not you should wish somebody a happy birthday, consider that doing so is more likely to have a positive result than not.
A final thought about birthdays…Thank you God; “for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when you made me in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:13-16).
Now that my friends, is worth celebrating! More cake please!!
